The Sony Ericsson Vivaz was officially announced on 21st January 2010, before being released on 5th March 2010 in the varying colour schemes of Moon Silver, Cosmic Black, Galaxy Blue, and Venus Ruby. The phone has gained high praise for its compact look and feel, as well as the multiple functions it has to offer, including photography features, HD video recording and playback, music playback, and Internet connectivity.

The camera is located at the rear of the handset, and sits nicely alongside and LED flashlight, it’s not covered by any slider, which makes it both accessible and easy on the eye. On the side, there’s four feature buttons, one for navigating to the camera’s functionality, one for accessing the video feature (start/stop video), one for taking pictures using the camera, and another is a button to set volume control and to zoom in on the camera (depending on which mode is currently active on the screen).

In terms of software – something that Sony Ericsson users are particularly interested in – the Vivaz uses the Symbian operating system; a revolutionary piece of programming that’s now in its 5th Edition. The device also uses the PlayNow service, and the Sony Ericsson mobile content platform, therefore previous users of the manufacturer’s handsets will be familiar with much of the software bundled in. In addition to the usual however, such as GPRS/UMTS/EDGE, the Vivaz makes use of the latest in Wi-Fi technology, and also Bluetooth, both of which are now universal features of most top-end smartphones, and features that contemporary mobile phone users come to rely on to download applications, send multimedia, and access social networking sites from just about anywhere.

There’s a lot of news about young people buying cell phones, free sony playstation 3 and all the gadgets and accessories for them, but what about your grandparents? It’s true — senior citizens are one of the largest groups of cell phone buyers, and their numbers are expanding rapidly as more and more elderly people are enjoy a more active, mobile lifestyle than their parents had.

If your grandparents don’t have cell phones yet, it’s highly likely that they’ve considered getting a cell phone but were too nervous about doing so. Even though many senior citizens have realized the need to have a cell phone, it can still be an overwhelming process of actually purchasing a set of cell phones. If you’re thinking about buying a cell phone for your grandparents, there are really three things you need to keep in mind in order to get them the best cell phone possible.

First, you want to think about their needs more than anything else. Cell phones have plenty of features to choose from, but sometimes the cell phone with minimal features is superior to the one that has all the bells and whistles. For example, if your grandparents don’t have a need to check email, there’s no point in getting them to buy a cell phone that features email as a strong selling point. Same goes for the actual shape of the phone — if you know that your grandparents don’t care much for text messaging, then a full keyboard cell phone can more of a hassle than anything else. If the cell phone isn’t a surprise, then you might want to stop and discuss these issues with your grandparents before committing to a specific cell phone.

Next, you want to think about size. Size is one of the most important factors in a good cell phone for your grandparents — some prefer a large phone that’s easy to hold, while others may prefer a small phone that’s easy to fit into a shirt pocket or inside a purse. That’s not the only size consideration that you’ll need to make — you will also want to think about the size of the screen and the buttons that make up the cell phone as well. If you know that your grandparents’ vision isn’t what it used to be, you will want to make sure that the display and the buttons of the cell phone are as large as possible. Most phones have settings that allow you to also increase the size of the letters on the screen, so be sure to look for that.

Finally, you will want to think about accessories that make the cell phone more enjoyable to use. For example, if you know that your grandparents travel a lot, they may enjoy having a Bluetooth headset and a car charger, or even a second battery. A carrying case can also make the new cell phone more enjoyable, since it can be clipped to a belt loop or stored easily in a purse. The options really are endless!

Overall, buying a cell phone for your grandparents really isn’t that difficult — what it takes is simply knowing what matters to them most and doing everything you can to give them what they really want!

When the call came for HTC to scale down their popular HD2, HTC came up with the HTC HD Mini. Then, at the mobile world congress this year, the Mini made its debut. Take a look at what it can do here in this short article.

When HTC does something “big” it is “big”. The HTC HD Mini on the other hand, does big things in a little way. It only weighs 110 grams. That is 3.88 ounces for the folks who are not on the metric system. It is just 4.1 inches tall. It can go into a pocket easily and feel like it is hardly there.

Even though it is small, it packs a 3.2 inch capacitive touch screen that has 320 by 480 pixels of power. It can display 65,000 colors. It still runs the older LCD form of screen, but as stated, is clear and bright. It comes with the proprietary “Sense” user interface that displays HTC´s own widgets over the Microsoft operating system. It can do the multitouch acrobatics with a pinch from the fingers. It can also trade the screen mode automatically from portrait to landscape with a turn of the device.

The interior workings of the HTC HD Mini are impressive as well. It runs the latest version of Windows Mobile Professional, version 6.5.3. The Windows Mobile system can connect to Facebook and Twitter. It has a browser that you can use the multitouch option with. There is no slowness in navigating with Windows Mobile. The Mini comes with 384 megabytes of RAM memory and 512 of ROM memory. This helps the speed of the smartphone just like it does when you add more memory on your own PC at home. The CPU is a fast 600 megahertz racer. It is made by Qualcomm, which makes processors for much of the mobile devices you are accustomed to these days.

The camera on the HTC HD Mini is a very nice five megapixel design. It includes flash and autofocus. It can also take video. The quality of the photos is wonderful and all the “grainy” patterns of cheap photos is done away with. The Mini can produce 2592 by 1944 resolution for photos. The audio section includes a FM radio, a speakerphone and a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack.

Call coverage is taken care of with quad band and dual band HSDPA networks. The data connections are complete except for infrared. Wi-Fi is used with the “B” and “G” modes. The HD Mini has a unique ability to be used as a wireless WLAN ( Wi-Fi )hotspot. You can feed a connection to up to five different wireless devices. This is not a free option and the carrier providing this extra feature will be the one to decide how much you pay for it.

The HTC HD Mini has a strange affinity for large screws. The back of the phone has these at each corner. When you do venture to take off the battery cover, you find that everything is yellow. Only HTC knows for sure why it is completely yellow on the inside. Perhaps they are wanting their customers to focus more on their “geeky” side ? Whatever the reason, the battery is an average size and gives a respectable 6.6 hours of talk time. This model will be offered in Europe and Asia.

The iPhone has been one of the biggest commercial technological successes in the last decade – and have ranked number one in a huge number of polls for the best gadget to have come about in that time.

There are a large number of reasons for that. The impressive design of the phone itself, the brand name of Apple, the marketing of the phone. But one thing that has stood out amongst all these factors as a driving force behind the success of the iPhone is the applications that it is able to include.

Applications

Think about what you use your phone for these days. The mobile phone has moved far beyond simply being a phone – instead we use it for such a variety of things as

* An internet browser
* An email tool
* A games console
* A portable word processor

Applications have dramatically increased the functionality of the mobile phone – from allowing it to interact with your company’s database through to giving you instant translations for when you are travelling abroad.

When you consider that one of the most celebrated aspects of the iPhone is the sheer versatility of it you see why the apps has become one of the foremost reasons for the success of the mobile phone offering from Apple.

It is the apps that allow the iPhone to appeal to such a large market audience. It caters not just as a general phone but to such niches as business people looking for a phone they can integrate into their lives to help keep up to date on the move through to teenagers who want games to play and music to listen to – as well as the basic phone requirements.

The apps part of the iPhone allows all this and far more besides. It is because of these apps that Apple is able to get the market share that it has – and why the iPhone is continuing to grow.

The iPhone has become something of a phenomenon in the mobile phone industry, with most other mobile manufacturers having to bring out offerings that are able to compete with the iPhone in many aspects. It has become something of a bench mark.

But what few people seem to consider is the impact that the iPhone has had on the wider technological community. It is something that should be considered though as it is clear that the influence of the iPhone is far from limited to the mobile industry.

A Dream Reborn

One consideration should be what was once a technological ‘ideal’ in the 1990’s, a dream gadget that was able to combine all other gadgets. This fell away as the sheer number of gadgets that we have available to us multiplied to a vast degree.

Mp3 players, portable web browsers, mobile phones, PDA’s, the list is endless. And it became too much to expect them all to be reduced down to one or two ‘universal’ gadgets that we could use. But the iPhone has changed that perception dramatically.

By bringing together a wide range of gadgets, from web browsers to MP3 players, it has distilled them down into the one touch screen device. More it offers a huge range of other functionalities through it’s wide ranging applications – from acting as a translator to a tool for doing your banking on.

This collection of gadgets in one place has changed how we look at technology again. What had all but disappeared as a dream has risen again, the universal gadget may not be something that we are actively seeking but when you consider what you now expect your gadgets to do, the wide ranging functions you expect them to carry out, you see that it is something you are at least partially looking to achieve.

The iPhone has changed how we think of our mobile technologies and caused us to reconsider wat we expect from our equipment. Far from being limited to the mobile phone industry it’s effects really can be felt everywhere.

Hands down, one of the best business machines available today is the iPhone. Not only is the iPhone a great communications device, but it is the ultimate administrative assistant for business people on the go.

No matter what sort of business you are in, the iPhone is your perfect admin when you can’t be at the office. With hundreds and hundreds of business applications, ranging from sales, marketing, advertising, bookkeeping, and travel, it is an undeniably beneficial business tool.

Especially for businessmen and businesswomen who find themselves on the road a lot, the iPhone is the office away from the office. The adaptable technology of this device is its best feature for use in business. You can find absolutely every business application you could ever want to install on your iPhone, and probably some that you have never thought about.

Research the business applications available for use on your iPhone and I am sure you will be very pleased. Choose the ones that best apply to whatever it is you do, whether you are a salesperson, a home improvement contractor, an executive, a manager, or a warehouse foreman, the iPhone can actually help you perform your duties better.

There are applications that you can adapt to your current operational procedures that will make you more successful and efficient than you were prior to purchasing your iPhone. Imagine that your iPhone will not only help you to remain successful by keeping all the necessary tools of technology in the palm of your hand, but that it can make you better at what you do through the innovative and effective applications it offers to your business.

For this reason, the iPhone becomes something more than a business convenience. The iPhone becomes a business necessity. The easy functionality of its applications saves you time in managing your business away from the office, allowing you to concentrate on the reasons you are out of the office in the first place, whether it is to make a sales call, deliver an order, or check on a jobsite.

The freedom and function of an iPhone is unlike any mobile business technology out there. It is hands on, while it allows you a hands free option. With your iPhone by your side, there is no concern that can arise or detail that cannot be seen so swiftly and decisively from any location whatsoever.

The certainty that you can handle all of your business, all of the time, from anywhere at all, gives you an upper hand in confidence that the competition cannot match.

When iPhones hit the market, they caught the collective breath of consumers everywhere. A cell phone that was so interactive and technologically advanced caught everyone’s attention. Then, came the applications. The iPhone’s application market has taken off like a rocket. Its applications reach into all aspects of personal and business life like education, medicine, entertainment, food, travel, health, news, social networking, advertising, marketing, and more.

Developing and launching applications for the iPhone is a difficult task. Still, there is plenty of opportunity out there for potential developers with original ideas. If you think you have what it takes to get into the provocative and profitable iPhone applications market, we have a few suggestions that might help you.

First, think innovation and originality. So many things have already been done in the application market that the only way you will succeed is to be highly inventive. Remember, however, that for every iPhone application that has been developed, there are many more that haven’t been thought of as of yet. Your only limitation is the imagination of the human mind.

Even though your application needs to be creative and highly developed, you must keep its operation easy and straightforward. The iPhone user is all about instant gratitude. If your application isn’t simple to use, no matter how inventive or original it is, it will get passed over for something else.

Develop applications with a good utility value, otherwise your application will remain in the iPhone and not be used. This will generate a negative impact on your application and word will get around that it is not something that is going to get much use.

Price your application to be competitive. You don’t want to charge too much, or too little. Find out what price other applications in your category are running and charge to compete.

The most important component to the successful sale of your application is going to be marketing. You will need to use timely marketing campaigns to catch the attention of iPhone users. Pay strict attention to your target market and develop strategies that concentrate on those demographics.

You might have the most original, highly usable, creative, innovative application ever developed, but if no one knows about it, it won’t sell. You might want to do marketing tests before you begin your campaign, in order to determine how well the application is received and what percentage of users would recommend it to others. Most important is to get a feel for your market and focus your strongest campaigns in that niche.

Do you want a smartphone that flies? The Samsung Wave is one such phone that does this without wings. It is fast thanks to its new processor. It is faster than the “Jet” that Samsung just put out. Take a look at its features here in this fact-packed article on the Samsung Wave S8500.

This Samsung Wave comes with a large battery, quality video camera, beautiful and bright screen, plenty of memory, and is not made with breakable plastic. It is covered in aluminum. This alone would make me choose it over most of the smartphones out there. Let´s get down to the juicier details. The screen is a “super” AMOLED model, and very responsive to touch. The size is 3.3 inches or 8.38 centimeters for those of you not in the United States. It has a capacitive touch screen with multi-touch ability. The screen absolutely beats other screens in quality. It makes other AMOLED screens look like the old LCD standard. What did Samsung do to make the screen so good?

The memory is truly abundant on the S8500. It has 512 megabytes of RAM. This makes it travel at warp speed. This, coupled with the 1000 megahertz Arm Cortex-A8 Samsung processor, make this smartphone blazing fast. Things like swiping the screen for the next page and accessing social networks happen in the blink of an eye. If you are a person who does not have time to wait for a smartphone to do what you want it to do, you will love the S8500.

The connection ability with this phone is superior to many that are available. The new BADA ( “Bada means “sea” in the Korean language )operating system is fresh and looking good. It is a direct affront to other popular open-source operating systems. This will be a huge step forward for smartphone markets that are not based in the United States. The BADA system comes with a focus of centering around social networks. The in-box is integrated into one page. All your contacts social networks and information can be shown on one page. The calender is the “push” style.

The Samsung Wave S8500 has all the creature-comforts of a high-end smartphone. The camera is excellent with autofocus and LED flash. It is a five megapixel unit. The video is taken at an incredible 720-p. There is geo-tagging, face and blink ( for the eyes ) detection. There is a FM radio with RDS. The Wi-Fi is with the faster “N” version. Bluetooth in the latest version ( 3.0 ) is used on the Samsung Wave. The battery has a large reserve at 1500 mAh. Consider that just a few years ago, most had a battery that would only last about 850 or 950 mAh. The Wave can use quad band GSM networks and dual-band HSDPA or HSUPA networks.

If you are in the United States this smartphone will probably be drowned out in a about six months. Technology is rolling forward at an incredible speed and the pace is not going to be letting up. This Samsung Wave S8500 is leading the pack in its price range at the moment.

The Motorola Cliq, which is carried by T-Mobile, is a device that pulls out all the stops. Designed to keep you connected with your friends in the ever-growing circle of Online and direct networks out there, this is a communication device to rival champions. At least, that is what they are saying!

The Motorola Cliq uses a new type of Motorola designed technology called MotoBlur. This technology actually streamlines feeds from social networking sites, email, Twitter, and text messages – all in one program. The beauty of this is that it brings everything to your inbox so that you don’t have to visit the actual sites to see what your friends are doing. You will not have to go through the hassle of entering your password, either, every time. All you have to do is go into your inbox, and all of your social interactions are right there for you to browse freely!

This is another phone that runs on Google Android, which, as you all know, is offering some powerful applications. While the phone could potentially get bogged down by the sheer weight of information that it is designed to bring you, it does have it’s moments and that is why you will probably love the phone if you end up buying it.

One downside brought to light about this phone is the fact that the back panel covering the battery is a bit flimsy and hard to get into place. If you abuse it, it might get damaged. However, with care, there is no reason as to why this phone cannot last you a long time! The keypad has a QWERTY layout, which is always nice, and this keypad slides out from underneath the phone when needed. The keypad is said to be a bit awkward, but with some getting used to, it is functional.
